The Thin Man” is a 1934 detective novel written by Dashiell Hammett, who also penned “The Maltese Falcon.”  Most of The Thin Man movies were directed by W.S. Van Dyke II, with the exception of The Thin Man Goes Home (1945), which was directed by Richard Thorpe. The films star William Powell and Myrna Loy as husband and wife detective duo Nick and Nora Charles. Powell and Loy made a total of 14 films together over their long careers. Their personal chemistry combined with their graceful elegance make them the classiest crime-solver the silver screen has ever seen. TCM will be showing two other Powell/Loy pictures tomorrow, I Love You Again (1940) also directed by Van Dyke, and Love Crazy (1941). At 6:45 pm you can also catch a documentary about Loy, Myrna Loy: So Nice to Come Home to (1991).
